The Icing on the Cake

From the response to my last post, it seems necessary to do a series based on completing a look.  Just as in writing, its the story that draws you in, HOWEVER, its the specific details that keep you captivated.  Our goal in life is to make memories when making outfits, not merely to get dressed;-)  The topic of today's lesson will be necklaces/bracelets; specifically how to layer and coordinate with clothing.

I can already hear some of you groaning, and saying things like, "Uuuggghhh, I'm sooo not an accessories kinda girl", or, "I don't really have any pieces I like, and really can't afford to overhaul my collection!"  My response to those to comments are, A. There is no such thing as "not an accessory kind of girl."  EVERYONE accessorizes, even NUNS!!!  Its all about finding what you love and expressing that through your bauble of choice. B., If I'm talking about it in Nouveau, then its CERTAINLY affordable.  All pieces featured in this post are available via https://www.shopmissa.com/ for a mere $1.00.  Yup, you read right.   THIS IS NOT A TEST!!  there are thousands of products, including makeup on the site, ALL $1 pricepoints!!!

When it comes to matching your jewelry to your outfit, stick to the basics if this is unfamiliar territory.  What I mean by this is to pick things that come in silver and gold tone; my general rule of thumb is if I like a piece and it's priced at $3 or less, I'm going to purchase it in both gold and silver.  These 2 tones will go with ANYTHING you put on and will always look great.  Make sure you are uniform in your selections, from earrings/necklace/bracelet; if you're extra like me, your anklet as well.  All should be the same tone.

If you are adventurous and want to dabble in the realm of layering, the simplest way to go about it is to grab a piece that already has the hard part done for you.  Just 2 multi-layer necklaces/bracelets in combination with one another can have you looking like a pro styled you.  I like to pick things with similar stones and/or 1 chain link in common to look like it was a purchased set.

The key to being an accessory connoisseur is again, individuality and the personality you bring to a combination.  There are NO mistakes in the experimentation phase, lets just make sure you're not presenting full -blown disasters to the world on account of being lazy!!!  Let me know some of your favorite places to shop for jewelry;-) ~The Queen~
