A Match Made in Beauty Heaven: The Product Junkie and the Cheapskate

Oh Yes!!  If two things in this world could be more right for each other, I'm confident world peace would be achieved!  If you are a makeup product junkie, unless you are rich, ima need you to embrace your inner cheapskate and familiarize yourselves with one another.  In all actuality, we don't need endless amounts of products to achieve multiple looks, we just THINK we do.  We could probably all get by with like 10 products plus tools, but where's the fun in that???  We want it ALL don't we?!  There are ways to satisfy that inner desire to purchase an entire makeup dept. without filing for bankruptcy.  By following these simple shopping tips, you will find yourself saving money in ADDITION to being able to purchase more products at once.  A word to the wise, if you are a self-proclaimed makeup snob who only purchases select high-end brands with no intentions to convert, you may as well cease and desist from continuing to read this post.  Continue living a life where what you wash down the drain on a daily basis costs you more than those shoes you're ALWAYS wearing, it's cute how you have embraced and decided to own your status as a basic;-)  Please comment below and let me know if there is any method to your madness when on the hunt for beauty bargains and if you found my thoughts helpful.  Talk to you gals soon!  XOXO

1. Stop getting caught up in the glamour of boxes and bows:  In other words, STOP being so concerned with the packaging of a product.  Nothing in this life is free, you are PAYING for that super-fancy package!  Many inexpensive, great products come in less decorative packaging that can easily be tossed once you hit pan.  The best part is, you can throw it away in the end guilt-free and make room for something else.

2.  Familiarize yourself with the beauty of a palette as opposed to purchasing individual products:  whether it's a palette that includes full face products, or something specific, such as eyeshadow, many palettes, especially if purchased through companies such as e.l.f., BH cosmetics,  or coastal scents, cost the same amount, if not less, than individual eyeshadows, glosses, blushes, etc. from high end companies.  In addition to saving time and money, they also offer the added incentive of being space-savers and travel friendly. 3.  Do not, I repeat, DO NOT sleep on the makeup sections in Dollar Stores:  This is a fatal mistake of many babes on a budget, oftentimes assuming the quality will be horrible.  You would be incorrect!!  Some of the most fabulous products I have ever put on my face were found in Dollar Stores, specifically Dollar Tree.  I find that there is quite an array of different brands, some are some of the more celebrated drugstore brands, but sometimes I find a hidden gem I have never even heard of.  Be sure and do yourself a favor, next time you are in a Dollar Store, take a peek down the cosmetics isle, you never know what you may find!

4.  Become the Picasso of the Multi-Purpose product:  These are definite space, time, and wallet savers!  I find that these products tend to intimidate, and, if purchased at all, are generally only used for one function, which completely defeats the purpose.  First and foremost, learn to properly use a product with more than one function in each of its capabilities.  Even though in this process you may discover that it performs better in its capacity as a lip color rather than an eyeshadow, you may also discover that it works even better as a blush than what you originally purchased it for.  I prefer a Multi-Product that comes in a stick form that twists up from the bottom as opposed to having to sharpen or squeeze it from a tubular container.  They tend to last longer, store better, and most importantly, seem to always be inexpensive!  e.l.f. 5.  Become your own best friend and resident makeup artist:  By this I mean for you to become the supreme expert on YOU.  Stop letting others dictate what looks good on you and how you spend your money.  There should be no one on this earth that knows more about you than you, or should be able to beat your face better than you, professional or not.  That face belongs to you and NO ONE should know more about it than you.  You should know what colors and finishes work best on you, as well as what tools get the job done.  Develop an arsenal of inexpensive go-to products that work well from one look to the next, interchanging things like lip, eye, and cheek colors to update your looks.
