Throwback Thursday: Wet n Wild 17 Pcs Brush Set

I have been going back and forth with myself, debating on whether or not to review this particular brush set.  Not only have I had it for quite some time,  but once I saw individual brushes available for purchase at the Dollar Tree, I was like, "these may be on their way out, what if they have been discontinued?!"  When I recently received an email from Wet n Wild showing the full set still available for purchase, I thought, "that's a sign!"

Without further adieu, let's jump right in!  I'm gonna mention, right off the bat that I ADORE Wet n Wild, and have been secretly wanting this set to be created.  I, of course, am in love with the white on pink ombre effect and the ergonomic design.  It does make the experience a little smoother and more convenient.  the eye brushes are FANTASTIC; and the angled contour/blush brush is perfect for applying both.  the bristles are super soft...Now to get into some not so pleasant aspects...

The 1st thing I mentioned was the colorway of the bristles; although pretty to look at, damn near IMPOSSIBLE to clean.  I made the mistake of using the eyeshadow brush in a deep plum, almost black shade.  After numerous washes, the brush NEVER returned to its original color.  Next, the bristles on the face brushes are NOT densely packed enough to actually be usable.  I'm going to have to experiment with some alternate uses, perhaps to add highlight to the body.  There was a review on the site stating this set is perfect for beginners; I beg to differ.  These brushes require some patience, and a more skilled hand than a beginner will have; far more effort than a beginner would have the skill set to execute.  the set retails for $30.00 via WNWBeauty.com, making each brush less than $2.00 a piece.  I would recommend a set with less brushes at a lower price point, such as the BH Signature Rose Gold 15 Pcs Set, currently on sale for $17.50.

Is this set TERRIBLE?!  No, but it also is not GREAT either.  I think I actually prefer the 12 pcs Essential Brush Set from e.l.f. to this (sans the scratchy Total Face Brush!).  I can't believe I'm saying this about WnW, but this is a set you should skip over.  I am giving it just 💋💋; out of 17 brushes, i can say 3 live up to my brand expectations.  They just don't work!  Keep an eye out during my 90 day Deep Dive of BH Cosmetics for some absolutely STELLAR brush sets, all priced below $25.00.  Stay Fab✌~The Queen
